Without resorting too much to type, hippity-hop artists are well into the whole machiavelli thing (Tupac Shakur often cited him as a big influence, for instance) and I suppose chess is quite machivellian. All the plotting, scheming and that. Just the first thing that jumped into my head when I thought of hippity hop and chess.
Ah I understand. There is a seen in The Wire (one of the three episodes I have seen) where a character relates life on the 'projects' to a chess game. If Will ever lowered himself to raeding common blogging he'd back this up.
